The Russian Defense Ministry reported fresh developments along the front lines of the ongoing military operation in Ukraine as of the morning of August 17. Fighting remains intense across several key directions.
Kharkiv axis
Russian units advanced toward Borova, forcing Ukrainian troops out of Zelenyi Hai. Clearing operations are underway in the village, with Russian forces consolidating their new positions.
Kostiantynivka axis
Positional battles continue north of Poltavka, while heavy clashes are ongoing in Katerynivka and Kleban-Byk. Ukrainian troops are attempting counterattacks around Shcherbynivka. Fierce fighting has also been reported in Aleksandro-Shultyne, while Russian forces are pushing forward near Mykolaivka, outside Chasiv Yar.
Krasnoarmiisk (Pokrovsk) axis
Russian forces are improving their positions in Udachne, where battles are being fought house by house. Heavy positional fighting continues in Leontovychi and Troyanda. On the northern flank, Russian troops have made tactical gains near Rodynske.
