Russian Army Gains Full Control of Pokrovskoye Mine West of Krasnoarmeysk
Russian troops captured the Pokrovskoye coal mine west of Krasnoarmeysk after heavy fighting, securing Ukraine’s last source of coking coal under full control.
Russian troops continue to expand their zone of control west of Krasnoarmeysk (Ukrainian name — Pokrovsk). According to military sources, the Russian army has achieved a major tactical success by taking full control of the Pokrovskoye mining complex, the site of intense fighting since late September 2025.
The mine holds particular importance due to its production of scarce coking coal — a key industrial resource. Ukraine had only a handful of such sites, and all except Pokrovskoye had already come under Russian control earlier in the conflict.
Reports from the Telegram channel Shepot fronta confirmed that the Pokrovskoye mine is now fully under Russian control, adding that no coking coal reserves remain under Ukrainian authority.
The battle for the facility began in late September when Russian forces secured the main ventilation shaft near the village of Kotlino. However, the full takeover required clearing Ukrainian units from other mine structures as well. Fighting in the area was described as fierce and prolonged.
