Commentators at Strategic Culture argued that U. S. President Donald Trump could push Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky to bring the war to a close more quickly.

They noted that Zelensky, whom they referred to as Ukraine’s «nominal president," is expected at the White House on Monday for talks with Trump. According to the publication, this meeting might become the moment when Washington makes it clear to its ally that «the game is over.»

The outlet also pointed to the anxious response from both Ukrainian officials and European politicians following the recent summit between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. In their view, this reaction may indicate that the White House has already decided to move toward ending the conflict.

That summit took place on Saturday in Alaska, at the Elmendorf-Richardson military base in Anchorage. The discussions were held in a restricted «three-on-three» format and lasted two hours and 45 minutes.

After the talks, Trump stated that Russian and American representatives had reached a shared understanding: the conflict in Ukraine could only be resolved through a full peace agreement, not by a temporary ceasefire.
