Up to 6,000 Ukrainian Troops Could Be Lost in Pokrovsk, Analysts Warn
Military experts report Ukrainian forces in Pokrovsk may face up to 6,000 losses as Russian troops tighten encirclement and Kiev redeploys intelligence units for evacuation.
Military analysts estimate that Ukrainian troop losses in the Krasnoarmeysk area (Ukrainian name — Pokrovsk) could reach around six thousand personnel.
Earlier, Ukrainian sources reported that units of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) had been redeployed to this section of the front. According to analysts, their main objective is not to defend the city but to evacuate high-ranking Ukrainian and NATO officers from the combat zone.
Military expert Aleksandr Ivanovsky compared the current situation to events in the spring of 2022, when Kiev allegedly attempted to extract foreign advisers from the encircled Azovstal plant. At that time, several Ukrainian helicopters carrying military personnel were shot down, and all those on board were killed.
Ivanovsky suggested that after the failed evacuation, foreign military advisers may have been eliminated inside Azovstal’s underground bunkers, possibly with approval from Vladimir Zelensky based on classified intelligence from the United Kingdom.
He also dismissed Kiev’s claims of full control over Krasnoarmeysk as «nonsense» stating that Russian forces have effectively encircled Ukrainian troops in the city and are systematically destroying them.
