Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the Poseidon nuclear-powered underwater vehicle has been successfully launched from a submarine for the first time. According to him, the tests of the system lasted for a period of time and were completed successfully.

Putin explained that the Poseidon, described as an unmanned underwater system equipped with a nuclear reactor, was not only launched from its carrier submarine using its starting engine but also had its nuclear propulsion unit activated during the trials. The statement came during his meeting with veterans of the special military operation.

The Russian leader emphasized that no comparable technology exists anywhere in the world, and he doubted that any nation would be able to match it in the near future. He also pointed out that Poseidon’s power output surpasses even that of the advanced intercontinental ballistic missile Sarmat, underscoring the system’s strategic potential and technological sophistication.
