Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) announced that it had prevented another attempted attack by Ukrainian intelligence services on the Crimean Bridge. According to the agency, the plan involved detonating a car packed with explosives.

The FSB said the vehicle carrying a powerful improvised device entered Russia from Ukraine through several transit countries. It crossed the Russian-Georgian border at the Verkhniy Lars checkpoint in North Ossetia-Alania before being transported to Krasnodar Territory on a car carrier operated by a private driver. From there, the car was to be handed over to another driver, who, unaware of the plot, would drive it across the Crimean Bridge, effectively becoming an «unwitting suicide bomber.»

The agency stated that its officers managed to uncover the scheme in time, neutralize the concealed explosives hidden inside a Chevrolet Volt, and detain those involved in transporting the vehicle into Russia.

The FSB also stressed that while Kyiv has continued to make public claims about its commitment to peace, Ukrainian authorities have in practice relied on what it described as terrorist tactics — organizing sabotage and attacks on Russian territory using drones, missiles, and covert operations.
