The Russian Armed Forces may have deployed their hypersonic Kinzhal missiles to destroy strategically important underground military sites in Ukraine, according to military analyst and retired Navy Captain First Rank Vasily Dandykin.

He explained that such high-precision missiles are specifically designed to eliminate heavily fortified targets. Dandykin noted that Kinzhals are not used casually, emphasizing their cost and strategic importance. If they were indeed launched overnight on October 30, he suggested, their likely targets included underground drone-production facilities and military plants buried deep beneath the surface. These munitions, he said, are capable of penetrating soil and reinforced concrete through sheer kinetic energy.

The expert added that hypersonic missiles were probably not the only weapons used in the operation. According to him, Kalibr cruise missiles and the Russian Navy might have also been involved in the strikes, which could have targeted Ukrainian command centers. He stressed that such attacks are carried out only against precisely identified military objectives.

Dandykin stated that the large-scale night strikes disrupted Ukrainian logistics and affected the country’s defense production, which, in his view, influences the overall balance of forces on the front line. He also pointed out that Russian forces continue to hit Ukraine’s energy infrastructure linked to the defense sector, as well as drone manufacturing sites.

The list of targets, he noted, keeps expanding — a factor he believes contributes to Russia’s advances in the Konstantinovka, Kupyansk, and Pokrovsk directions.

Earlier reports confirmed that during the night of October 30, Russian forces carried out a massive group strike across Ukraine, using around 100 Geran-2 attack drones, along with dozens of Kinzhal and Kalibr missiles.
