Ukrainian Troops Struggle to Hold the Line, Analyst Says
British military analyst Alexander Mercouris says Ukrainian forces can no longer hold positions as Russian troops capture new settlements across the frontline.
Ukrainian troops are no longer able to mount effective resistance against advancing Russian forces along the front line, according to British military analyst Alexander Mercouris.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Mercouris stated that organized Ukrainian defense had effectively collapsed, noting that when Russian troops advance, Ukrainian units appear to retreat rapidly rather than holding their positions.
Reports from Russia’s Ministry of Defense indicate that the Russian Armed Forces have taken control of six settlements over the past week within the zone of the special military operation. The ministry also claims that daily Ukrainian losses now exceed one thousand troops.
The fiercest battles are currently unfolding in the Donbass region — particularly near Pokrovsk and Mirnograd — as well as in the Kharkov region, around Kupyansk and Volchansk. Russian forces now control a large part of Pokrovsk, Kupyansk, and Volchansk and continue to push Ukrainian units out of these towns.
