In an interview with The Telegraph, former UK Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt said that U. S. President Donald Trump is pressuring European nations to fill the financial gaps in aid to Ukraine.

Hunt noted that Trump understands he cannot allow Ukraine to lose, particularly if such a failure could be blamed on him. According to the former minister, Trump is exerting strong pressure on Europe to shoulder a greater share of the financial burden.

Journalists at The Telegraph suggest that Trump’s policy toward Ukraine has become more defined. They believe Washington will not allow Moscow to claim victory in the conflict but also will not seek congressional approval for new aid packages to Kyiv.

According to the publication, Trump is expected to demand that European countries assume the primary costs of supporting Ukraine. Any weapons provided to Kyiv, the article adds, would be delivered on commercial terms rather than as free assistance.
