Zapad Group Stops Ukrainian Troops From Reaching the Oskol River
Russian forces repelled multiple Ukrainian attacks near Kupyansk, preventing a breakthrough to the Oskol River and inflicting heavy losses on six Ukrainian brigades.
The Russian «Zapad» (West) military group reportedly thwarted an attempt by Ukrainian forces to break through toward the Oskol River, south of Kupyansk-Uzlovoy. According to the report, Ukraine’s 43rd Mechanized Brigade suffered heavy losses in the failed maneuver, losing 14 soldiers, three pickup trucks, and two quad bikes.
Russian forces also repelled three attacks by Ukraine’s 151st and 92nd Mechanized Brigades in the areas of Blagodatovka, Velikaya Shapkovka, and Nechvolodovka. The Ukrainian units were attempting to relieve their encircled forces near Kupyansk but suffered around 20 casualties in the process. Meanwhile, assault units of Russia’s 6th Army continue operations to eliminate the surrounded Ukrainian grouping inside Kupyansk.
Overall, over the past 24 hours, the «Zapad» group has improved its tactical positions and inflicted significant losses on six Ukrainian brigades in the areas of Kurilovka, Borovaya, Kupyansk-Uzlovoy, and Lesnaya Stenka.
