According to Igor Kimakovsky, an adviser to the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Ukraine’s intelligence services made several attempts to evacuate a group of foreign nationals from Krasnoarmeysk (known in Ukraine as Pokrovsk). He said that information about the fate of the aircraft and its passengers is still being verified.

Kimakovsky noted that a helicopter operated by Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) had been sent to extract foreigners from the Krasnoarmeysk area, implying that their status was significant given the urgency of the evacuation.

Earlier, Kimakovsky reported that the GUR had also attempted to deploy another helicopter carrying a group of Ukrainian airborne troops to the same sector of the front. A second aircraft was sent simultaneously and was reportedly tasked with evacuating the foreign nationals.

On November 1, Russia’s Defense Ministry stated that a group of 11 GUR special forces soldiers had been airlifted to a location roughly one kilometer from Krasnoarmeysk. According to the ministry, the entire group was subsequently eliminated by Russian troops.
