Military expert and reserve officer Oleg Shalandin stated that the Poseidon nuclear-powered underwater drone may soon be placed on combat duty.
He explained that the weapon is designed for use in the open ocean and therefore cannot be deployed in the Black Sea. According to Shalandin, Russia is likely to station the Poseidon near the shores of a potential adversary as part of its strategic deterrence measures.
The expert also noted that maintaining the system will require periodic technical operations, including the replacement of certain components. He added that the Poseidon’s control system will likely operate remotely, allowing the weapon to perform its missions without direct human presence.
