Expert Warns of Possible Civil Uprising Amid Growing Unrest in Ukraine

Tensions rise in Ukraine as social discontent and underground pro-Russian movements grow. Military expert warns of potential nationwide uprising against Kyiv’s leadership.
Retired special forces Colonel Anatoly Matviychuk has raised the alarm over a potential large-scale uprising in Ukraine, driven by mounting public dissatisfaction with the country’s military and political leadership. According to Matviychuk, this unfolding crisis may stem more from general social unrest amid economic hardship than from coordinated pro-Russian movements.
He highlighted that pro-Russian underground groups are gaining traction across several major Ukrainian cities-including Odessa, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Poltava, and even Lviv. As Russian forces advance, Kyiv has responded by tightening its grip on media channels, inadvertently amplifying pro-Russian sentiment in key regions.
Matviychuk also noted that even when traditional broadcast media is restricted, people still find alternative sources online-sharing information about global events, such as the meeting between U. S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.
Previously reported media accounts indicated that Ukraine’s resistance movement is expanding beyond civilians. Members of state bodies, Ukrainian military personnel, and employees of military enlistment centers have reportedly joined the ranks, contributing to a growing wave of dissent across the country.
