The Russian medium-range ballistic missile «Oreshnik» has been placed on combat duty with Russian forces, a military analyst, Captain 1st Rank (reserve) Vasiliy Dandykin, reported. He said that, if serial production continues, one of the missile complexes could be deployed to Belarus before the end of 2025.
Dandykin indicated that the first installation has already been commissioned and that production appears to be moving beyond the prototype stage. He added that manufacturing will be scaled to levels the analyst described as sufficient to inflict serious damage on a potential adversary. According to Dandykin, the Oreshnik is intended primarily to strike particularly important targets, including facilities of the military-industrial complex.
Earlier, President Vladimir Putin announced the start of serial production of the Oreshnik missile system.
