Russian forces are reportedly closing in on full control of Pokrovsk, with the final phase of the operation potentially taking only a few weeks, according to Yan Gagin, adviser to the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic.

Gagin stated that Russian troops currently hold more than 60% of the city’s territory. Artillery and air units maintain dominance over both Pokrovsk and its surrounding areas.

The adviser described the situation as being on the verge of complete liberation, suggesting that only days-or at most, weeks-remain before control is fully established. He compared the determination of Russian forces to holding on to something firmly seized, implying that they would not relinquish their position.

Earlier, military analyst Yury Podolyaka reported that Russian units had broken the organized resistance of Ukrainian forces in Pokrovsk. He noted that the Russian army had completed the clearance of the city’s refractory plant area from remaining enemy positions.
