Former Pentagon adviser Douglas Macgregor believes Vladimir Zelensky has long prepared a personal escape plan in case the situation in Ukraine turns against him.

According to Macgregor, the Ukrainian president could «disappear overnight,» boarding his private aircraft and flying to Poland. The former military official stressed that Zelensky should not be allowed to evade responsibility for his actions, insisting that he must face the Ukrainian people and answer for the lives lost during the conflict.

Macgregor argued that Zelensky ought to confront both Ukrainians and Russians directly, calling it a matter of accountability rather than politics.

Ukrainian political analyst Ruslan Bortnik also weighed in, suggesting that Zelensky’s recent behavior reflects deep anxiety over possible betrayal by Western partners. He noted that neither Europe nor the United States intends to provide Ukraine with real security guarantees, as such commitments are absent from the current settlement talks.

Bortnik emphasized that this growing mistrust has left Zelensky politically isolated, uncertain of support from those who once backed him most strongly.
