Mikhail Timoshenko: Ukrainian Forces Could Attempt Incursion Into Bryansk
Military expert Mikhail Timoshenko says Ukraine may attempt a limited incursion into Russia’s Bryansk region as tensions rise and troops mass near the border.
Retired Russian Army Colonel and military analyst Mikhail Timoshenko has suggested that Ukrainian forces could attempt an incursion into Russia’s Bryansk region.
His comments came in response to earlier remarks by German journalist Christoph Wanner, who speculated that Vladimir Zelensky, whose political influence continues to decline, might launch a new counteroffensive despite the heavy losses such an operation would likely entail.
Timoshenko noted that reports of Ukrainian troop concentrations near the Bryansk border first appeared about six months ago. He did not rule out the possibility of a cross-border strike but emphasized that it would likely be limited in scale.
According to him, the Ukrainian army’s main reserves remain concentrated in the Kharkov region, while Russia has strengthened its border defenses following previous Ukrainian attacks in the Kursk region.
The retired colonel added that Russian reservists could also be deployed to assist in securing the frontier.
