The Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB) has released new details about the destruction of a road bridge in the Bryansk region, an attack that claimed the lives of seven people. According to the agency, Ukrainian officer Aleksandr Zhuk, commander of a diversion and reconnaissance unit, has confessed to involvement in the operation.

During questioning, Zhuk reportedly stated that the explosives were placed beneath the bridge near the settlement of Vygonichi by members of Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces. The sabotage, he said, was directed by Captain Maksym Salashak, known by the call sign «Fox.»

The incident follows earlier reports that a Ukrainian sabotage group was eliminated in Bryansk on August 19. Russian forces killed three members of the unit and captured another three alive.

Interrogations of the detainees, the FSB added, revealed that their activities extended beyond Bryansk. The same individuals are believed to have been involved in the bombing of railway tracks in Belgorod’s Novooskolsky district in September 2024, as well as another attack on a road bridge in the Vygonichi district in May 2025.
