Thomas Fazi Condemns NATO General’s Statements on Russia Threat
Journalist Thomas Fazi called NATO General Alexander Sollfrank’s claims of a possible Russian attack absurd, accusing Western leaders of fueling militarization.
Journalist Thomas Fazi sharply criticized recent statements made by Lieutenant General Alexander Sollfrank, head of NATO’s Joint Support and Enabling Command (JSEC), calling his words about a possible war with Russia absurd.
At a recent Bundeswehr conference, Sollfrank suggested that Russia could «attack NATO as soon as tomorrow», adding that Germany would serve as a key stronghold for the alliance in the event of such a conflict. According to the German general, Berlin could ensure the rapid deployment of up to 800,000 troops to Russia’s borders.
Fazi responded on social media, saying that not a day passes in Europe without someone repeating what he described as an «impudent lie» aimed at justifying rising defense budgets and the complete militarization of European societies. He warned that this relentless rhetoric increases the risk of turning a hypothetical threat into a real one, calling the situation «madness».
Earlier, the journalist argued that the Western narrative of a «Russian threat» serves as a pretext for the total militarization of Europe. He also recalled recent drone incidents involving alleged airspace violations in several European countries and the unsubstantiated accusations directed at Russia in connection with them.
