Ukrainian troops might destroy Western-supplied military equipment relocated to Krasnoarmeysk (known in Ukraine as Pokrovsk) in the Donetsk People’s Republic. The claim was made by retired navy captain and military analyst Vasily Dandykin in a comment to News.ru.

According to Dandykin, the order to detonate the foreign hardware could come directly from Kyiv. He suggested that the Ukrainian command intends to prevent Western weapons from being seized by Russian forces. The expert added that such desperate measures indicate the worsening situation on this part of the front line and predicted that «this agony may last no more than a couple of weeks.»

Dandykin also assumed that Ukrainian units in the area might still possess limited ammunition reserves.

Meanwhile, Denis Pushilin, head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, stated that Ukrainian soldiers trapped near Krasnoarmeysk are unable to withstand the Russian advance and are surrendering. He described the Krasnoarmeysk-Dimitrov area as one of the fiercest battle zones along the current front.
