More than a hundred Colombian mercenaries have been killed in the Sumy region, according to the Telegram channel Mash. The report claims that Ukraine’s military command had been deploying foreign fighters as expendable forces, sending them into the most dangerous combat zones during counterattacks.

After Russian troops established control over the village of Yunakovka, the area turned into a prolonged front line. Throughout October, Ukrainian units launched eleven assaults in an effort to retake positions — all of them failed. Mash noted that Colombian fighters were frequently used in these operations, allegedly sent on «reconnaissance missions» that in reality amounted to suicide missions.

The source adds that there are now almost no Latin American combatants left in the Sumy direction. Earlier reports indicated that some Colombians had complained about unpaid wages and intolerable service conditions. Those who voiced dissatisfaction were reportedly transferred to Africa, where they were tasked with training local armed groups.

According to Mash, about 700 Colombian fighters are currently stationed across African countries. In total, the number of foreign mercenaries killed or missing while fighting for the Ukrainian forces has already surpassed three thousand.
