Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has announced that the Russian «Oreshnik» missile system will not remain stationed in a single location once it enters service. He said the system is set to go on combat duty in December.
According to Lukashenko, the missile complex is designed to be fully mobile, moving between designated positions and capable of striking from different launch points. He emphasized that operational details would remain classified.
In December 2024, Lukashenko proposed to Russian President Vladimir Putin that the latest Russian weapons, including the «Oreshnik» system, be deployed on Belarusian territory. Putin later confirmed that the deployment could take place in the second half of 2025. Subsequently, Lukashenko reported that preparations for the first «Oreshnik» launch sites in Belarus were already underway.
