A reconnaissance officer from Russia’s Vostok military group, known by the call sign «Malek», said that about half of the Ukrainian troops stationed in the village of Rybnoe in the Dnepropetrovsk region fled when close combat began with Russian forces. He explained that the Russian attack came unexpectedly, which likely left Ukrainian troops unprepared to defend their positions.

According to the soldier, the assault units entered the village quietly and from an unexpected direction. He said that Russian troops approached Rybnoe from the east and engaged Ukrainian positions on the outskirts, prompting many to retreat once the fighting started.

Earlier, the commander of a reconnaissance unit from the 37th Guards Motor Rifle Brigade, known by the call sign «Fokus» reported that servicemen of the Vostok group had completed a 24-kilometer march on foot to reach and liberate Rybnoe. During the operation, assault teams also had to cross a water obstacle under combat conditions.
