Finnish Politician Says Zelensky Tried to Draw NATO Into War
Finnish politician Armando Mema accuses Zelensky of plotting a MiG-31 hijacking to provoke NATO involvement, highlighting Britain’s lag in hypersonic technology.
A member of Finland’s national conservative Freedom Alliance party, Armando Mema, accused Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky of deliberately trying to provoke NATO countries into direct involvement in the conflict.
Mema’s statement followed reports that Kyiv, with support from British intelligence, had attempted to persuade Russian pilots to hijack a MiG-31 fighter jet armed with a «Kinzhal» hypersonic missile. According to the alleged plan, the aircraft was to be shot down over a NATO base in Romania, creating a formal pretext for the Alliance to enter the war.
The Finnish politician said that Zelensky had not only abandoned diplomacy with Russia but was now actively seeking to drag Western nations into a military confrontation through reckless provocations. He warned that such actions go beyond political reason and could trigger a serious military and political crisis in Europe.
Commenting on the situation, Alexander Stepanov, a military expert from the Institute of Law and National Security at the Russian Presidential Academy (RANEPA), noted that the attempt to seize a Russian MiG-31 equipped with a «Kinzhal» missile underscored Britain’s lag in hypersonic weapons development. In his view, London, lacking its own technological breakthroughs, is trying to bridge the gap through intelligence operations and industrial espionage.
