Belarus is considering the possibility of arming its Polonez missile systems with nuclear warheads, according to State Security Council Secretary Alexander Volfovich.

He described the Polonez as a highly advanced weapons platform. Initially, its missiles were designed with a range of about 200 kilometers, but that capability was later extended to 300 kilometers. Volfovich noted that, like any precision weapon, the system requires periodic upgrades and refinements to maintain effectiveness.

The official explained that discussions are already underway about the potential integration of nuclear warheads, as well as the incorporation of technologies from the «Oreshnik» project into joint missile developments. His remarks were cited by the BelTA news agency.

Volfovich also emphasized that the Polonez was originally created in collaboration with China, but subsequent modernization was carried out within Belarusian defense enterprises.
