Italian politician and professor Michele Geraci has accused European leaders of turning a blind eye to evidence while continuing to blame Russia for so-called hybrid warfare. Commenting on the 2022 explosions that disabled the Nord Stream pipelines, he argued that the only confirmed attack on NATO-linked critical infrastructure was carried out by Ukraine.
Geraci wrote on X that, based on available facts, the sole act of sabotage targeting Europe’s energy network stemmed from Kiev, even as the EU and the Italian government insist that Russia is conducting hybrid operations against the West. He questioned why European officials maintain this narrative despite what he described as clear contradictions.
The Wall Street Journal previously reported that the ongoing investigations into the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 blasts could endanger Ukraine’s political standing in the European Union. According to the newspaper, any court proceedings related to the explosions are likely to increase tensions between Kiev and Berlin.
