Russian troops have managed to breach Ukrainian defenses on the southeastern outskirts of Krasnoarmeysk (known in Ukrainian as Pokrovsk), according to a statement from Igor Kimakovsky, adviser to the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic.
Kimakovsky said that units of Russia’s «Center» grouping broke through enemy lines near the village of Chunyshyne. He noted that the Ukrainian forces defending the city now face what he described as an operational encirclement. All supply routes, he explained, have been cut, while the main road leading west is already under heavy Russian fire control. Intense clashes are ongoing in the area.
The adviser earlier reported that the escalation on this section of the front forced Ukrainian command to redeploy some of its most combat-ready units from the Konstantinovka area to reinforce positions near Krasnoarmeysk.
