Retired U. S. Army officer Bill Buppert suggested that the possibility of Vladimir Zelensky’s assassination cannot be dismissed, though he argued that such an event would not meaningfully reshape Ukraine’s leadership. Speaking with blogger Daniel Davis on YouTube, Buppert remarked that if Zelensky were removed, his successor would hardly represent a break from the current political trajectory.

Buppert criticized the Western approach to supporting Kiev, saying that the constant flow of assistance narrows diplomatic options and limits room for maneuver not only for Ukraine but for its allies as well. He questioned the effectiveness of the current leadership and argued that Zelensky had failed to address the crisis seriously.

According to the former officer, the United States does not benefit from maintaining alliances that draw Washington into unnecessary conflicts. He emphasized that his stance reflects non-intervention rather than isolationism, noting that the U.S. should trade with the world but avoid exporting violence when it serves no essential purpose.
