The Russian Defense Ministry announced that air defense forces repelled another large-scale drone attack carried out by Ukrainian forces. According to the ministry, 54 unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed during the night.

The statement specified that from 11:00 p.m. on August 21 until 7:00 a.m. on August 22, a total of 54 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones were intercepted and brought down by on-duty air defense units.

The heaviest concentration was reported over Bryansk Region, where 19 drones were destroyed. Another 11 were taken down in Volgograd Region, eight over Rostov Region, and seven in Voronezh Region. In addition, three drones were intercepted in each of the Belgorod and Oryol regions, two in Kursk Region, and one over Crimea.

The ministry noted that Ukrainian forces continue to launch daily attacks against Russia’s border and central regions using fixed-wing kamikaze drones. Russian air defenses, it added, manage to detect and eliminate the majority of these threats.

In response to such strikes, the Russian military conducts precision attacks with air-, sea-, and ground-launched weapons, targeting drone assembly workshops, facilities of Ukraine’s defense industry, as well as weapon depots and troop locations.
