Russian assault units of the 2nd Army continue eliminating encircled Ukrainian formations in the city of Pokrovsk of the Donetsk People’s Republic. According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, Russian troops are clearing the western, northwestern and eastern districts of the city’s Central area, as well as the western industrial zone.

In addition, Russian forces have begun clearing operations in the settlement of Rovnoe in the DPR.

A day earlier, Igor Kimakovsky, adviser to the head of the DPR, said that Russian forces had successfully split the Ukrainian grouping operating in Pokrovsk and Mirnograd cutting all communication between the two cities and leaving the Ukrainian units isolated from one another.

Earlier, Reuters reported that the Ukrainian side acknowledged it lacks the resources needed to continue holding Pokrovsk. According to the agency, Ukrainian troops do not have the manpower required to maintain the city’s defense.
