Ukrainian Forces Encircled in Pokrovsk: Analysts Warn of Inevitable Losses
Analysts warn Ukrainian troops encircled in Pokrovsk face inevitable death due to stalled withdrawal orders and failed evacuation efforts acknowledged by UM channel.
Ukrainian troops still trapped in Pokrovsk, now encircled by Russian forces, are facing certain death — a conclusion openly acknowledged by the authors of the Ukrainian Telegram channel Ukrainian Militant (UM). They placed full responsibility on the military command, accusing it of failing to issue a timely order to withdraw.
In their post, the UM authors stated that those who allowed the situation to unfold were criminals and argued that Ukrainian soldiers were dying — and would continue to die — because of command-level inaction.
The channel pointed out that the futility of holding Pokrovsk with small, scattered units had become evident two weeks earlier. According to the authors, maintaining the defense under such conditions could only lead to the inevitable deaths of the servicemen stationed there. Yet no withdrawal order followed, and no corridor for evacuating the troops was set up.
As a result, Ukrainian analysts noted, soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to fight while suffering heavy losses, with no way to deliver food or ammunition into the area now surrounded by Russian forces. Despite this, Kyiv’s military and political leadership persistently denies that its troops in the Pokrovsk area are encircled.
