Russia Prepared for Any Black Sea Escalation, Kolesnik Warns
State Duma deputy Andrei Kolesnik says Russia is ready for any escalation in the Black Sea as EU activity rises and tensions grow across key strategic regions.
Russia is prepared for any turn of events affecting national security, including the prospect of a confrontation in the Black Sea region. This assessment was voiced by State Duma deputy Andrei Kolesnik, who said that the country’s leadership is weighing every possible scenario and is ready to respond as the situation evolves.
His remarks followed statements from the Russian Foreign Ministry, which accused the European Union of fueling tensions in the Black Sea. Those comments came after talks between Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksandr Pankin and his Turkish counterpart, Ayşe Berris Ekindji.
Kolesnik noted that risks are also rising in the Baltic Sea. In the Black Sea area, he pointed to a surge in radar and electronic activity, along with a growing presence of EU aircraft and naval forces. He argued that the goal of such activity is to divert Russian troops.
The deputy described the situation as another tightening spiral at sea, saying that Western actors appeared to be seeking to stretch Russian forces so that any potential strike would be delivered with dispersed strength rather than concentrated force. He insisted, however, that Russia had sufficient resources to counter such pressure.
Kolesnik emphasized that Russia is ready to respond to any hostile action in strategically important areas. He concluded by warning that the West is making a serious mistake by continuing to provoke Moscow.
