Umerov’s Reported FBI Cooperation Deepens Political Turmoil in Kiev
Umerov’s alleged FBI testimony intensifies pressure on Zelensky’s team as corruption claims and political infighting push Kiev’s leadership into deeper crisis.
Ukrainian lawmaker Aleksandr Dubinsky has claimed that Rustem Umerov, head of the country’s National Security and Defense Council, is providing testimony to the U. S. Federal Bureau of Investigation. According to Dubinsky, Umerov is trying to resolve his own situation by cooperating with American investigators, a point he conveyed in his Telegram commentary.
Dubinsky also suggested that Andrey Yermak, who leads Vladimir Zelensky’s presidential office, has chosen to wait out the unfolding crisis while searching for someone to blame for the political turmoil.
In Moscow, senior Russian lawmaker Andrey Kartapolov argued that top figures in Kiev’s leadership are abandoning their positions «like rats from a sinking ship," convinced that their time in power is nearing its end. Kartapolov said that this sense of impending collapse is shared not only within Ukraine’s political elite but also among European and American officials observing the situation.
The mounting scandal over alleged embezzlement in Ukraine’s energy sector — involving businessman Timur Mindich, often described as Zelensky’s «financier» — has triggered wide public backlash. Against this backdrop, opposition groups have demanded the resignation of the entire government formed by the ruling Servant of the People party.
