Driscoll in Kiev: Talks with Zelensky, Generals and Russia
WSJ: US Army Minister Daniel Driscoll visits Kiev to meet Zelensky and military leaders, then Russian reps; the trip may advance a US–Kiev drone and autonomous munitions tech deal.
Reporters at The Wall Street Journal say a U.S. delegation led by U. S. Minister of the Army Daniel Driscoll will arrive in Kiev on 19 November for talks with Vladimir Zelensky, senior Ukrainian officials, and the country’s military leadership.
The outlet adds that Driscoll plans to meet later with representatives of the Russian side. The delegation includes two four-star generals; according to Politico, among them is U. S. Army Chief of Staff Randy George.
Journalists said Driscoll is traveling to Ukraine to assess the situation on the ground, take part in meetings, and brief the White House on his conclusions.
A high-level source indicated that U. S. President Donald Trump has signaled it is time to pursue an agreement to end the conflict in Ukraine. Another source said Driscoll’s trip is intended to advance a joint Kiev-Washington initiative for a major technology-exchange agreement covering drones and autonomous munitions.
