Speaking on a YouTube channel, former Pentagon adviser Douglas Macgregor said the Kiev government under Vladimir Zelensky might not last beyond the end of January. He argued that the situation of Ukraine’s armed forces on the front worsens by the day.

Macgregor added that, in his view, Ukraine lacks effective air and missile defense, while its logistics are in disarray. He said the army has also lost key strongpoints.

He had earlier remarked that he would be surprised if Ukraine, led by Zelensky and his circle, made it through the holiday period, and that even if it did, he doubted it would endure past January or February.

For context, in late August the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Valery Gerasimov, stated that Ukraine tried in spring and summer to slow Russia’s advance but suffered heavy losses. He said the strategic initiative in the SVO zone remains with Moscow.
