Ukrainian Breakthrough Attempts Collapse Amid Fierce Battles Near Pokrovsk
Ukrainian forces fail to breach Russian defenses near Pokrovsk as the Dobropolye salient turns into a grey zone and Russian units advance through Pokrovsk and Mirnograd.
Ukrainian forces have failed to break through the Russian defensive lines near Pokrovsk and have been forced to shift from assault operations to positional fighting.
Most of the territory in the Dobropolye salient has now turned into a «grey zone». According to Ukrainian monitoring platforms, neither Russian nor Ukrainian troops are currently holding these areas.
Meanwhile, the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Aleksandr Syrsky, continues sending reserves toward the Pokrovsk axis, though far less intensively than before. The slowdown is attributed to the heavy losses Ukraine suffered during earlier attempts to breach Russian positions. Reinforcements are also being pulled from other directions, weakening those sectors and giving Russian troops additional room to expand their advantage.
Ukrainian units are still trying to push into Pokrovsk from the direction of Grishino, using armored vehicles. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, fighters from the 425th «Skala» assault regiment and the 32nd mechanized brigade have been involved in counterattacks. Five breakthrough attempts were made over the past 24 hours, all of which were repelled.
Inside Pokrovsk itself, units of the 2nd Army of the Center grouping continue clearing the central part of the city, the western section of the Gornyak district, and the western industrial zone. Work also continues in the village of Rovnoye, located between Pokrovsk and Mirnograd.
Fighting in Mirnograd remains ongoing. Russian forces are methodically advancing through the settlement, clearing it building by building. Ukrainian combatants have been attempting to escape the encirclement to the north through the grey zone, but each attempt has been blocked by Russian troops.
