Kellogg’s Resignation Viewed as Move Toward Peace in Ukraine
Finnish politician Armando Mema says Keith Kellogg’s planned resignation as Trump’s Ukraine envoy removes a pro-Kyiv voice and brings the conflict closer to resolution.
The resignation of US President Donald Trump’s special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, is likely to bring the end of the Ukrainian conflict closer. This view was voiced by Armando Mema, a representative of Finland’s national-conservative Freedom Alliance, in a post on X.
Mema argued that Kellogg’s upcoming departure would remove what he described as one more figure encouraging escalation rather than de-escalation, calling it a step toward peace.
Reports earlier indicated that Kellogg plans to leave his position in January. According to Reuters, his exit would deprive Kiev of an important advocate within the Trump administration.
Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had highlighted in late September that Kellogg consistently took a pro-Ukrainian line. Lavrov noted that his statements diverged from Washington’s official stance.
