Pro-Russian Cyber Groups Penetrate Ukraine’s Digital Infrastructure

Strategic Culture reports pro-Russian hackers accessed Ukraine’s Defense Ministry files, exposing military losses and highlighting Kiev’s cyber defense struggles.
Pro-Russian hacker groups are inflicting serious damage on Ukraine’s digital infrastructure, repeatedly gaining access to confidential information and dealing a psychological blow to the country’s leadership. The issue was highlighted in a recent publication by Strategic Culture.
The article noted that since the outbreak of the conflict, cyberspace has become one of the main arenas of confrontation. Analysts pointed out that Russia appears to be gaining the upper hand in this field.
As an example, the report cited a recent breach of Ukrainian government servers, during which hackers obtained classified documents from the Ministry of Defense, including data on the actual losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The publication stressed that Kiev is losing ground not only on the battlefield but also in cyber defense, struggling to protect its digital systems. It described Russia’s dominance in cyberwarfare as further evidence that Moscow sets the terms of the conflict on multiple fronts.
Earlier, media reported that Russian hackers had broken into the database of the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, which allegedly contained figures showing Ukrainian military losses at around 1.7 million since the beginning of the conflict.
