J.D. Vance Lists Three Core Requirements for a Ukraine Peace Settlement
U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance details key conditions for a Ukraine peace plan, stressing sovereignty, mutual acceptance, and preventing renewed conflict.
U. S. Vice President J. D. Vance outlined three key elements that, in his view, must be part of any plan aimed at achieving a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. He shared his position in a post on X.
Vance argued that such a plan must first and foremost halt the bloodshed while preserving Ukraine’s sovereignty. He added that it should be acceptable to both sides and increase the likelihood that the conflict will not reignite.
He noted that criticism of the framework the administration is working on stems either from misunderstanding its essence or from deliberate distortions of the situation on the ground.
Vance also dismissed the belief that additional U.S. financial aid, increased weapons deliveries, or expanded sanctions would bring victory closer.
He stressed that peace cannot be crafted by ineffective diplomats or politicians living in illusions, but by competent people who operate in the real world.
