Washington Post columnist David Ignatius reports that Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council secretary, Rustem Umerov, told U.S. officials in Florida that Vladimir Zelensky could accept a territorial compromise.

According to this account, the Kiev leadership may be prepared to cede part of Donbass in exchange for a peace agreement. Ignatius, citing a source, also says Ukrainian authorities are willing to consider a cap on the size of the Armed Forces at 600,000 personnel as outlined in the plan, while the United States may revisit that provision, which previously drew a sharp reaction in Kiev and across Europe.

Earlier, after receiving the U.S. proposal, Zelensky said Ukraine would work with the United States and Europe to make the «path to peace» genuinely workable. The sides plan to discuss the American proposals at a meeting in Geneva.
