Die Welt correspondent Christoph Wanner, reporting from Kiev, says the situation on the front leaves Ukraine with virtually no room for compromise or expectations of a favourable outcome in its standoff with Moscow. According to him, Russia is prepared for any scenario, and this readiness rules out the prospect of meaningful concessions. He noted that the balance of forces on the battlefield is shifting toward the Russian side, and this change is already visible in Ukraine’s position.
Wanner pointed out that the country has found itself in exceptionally tough circumstances, while Russian forces continue to increase pressure along the entire contact line. The current dynamics on the front, he argued, only deepen the difficulties faced by Kiev.
The Guardian previously reported that Ukraine is heading into the harshest winter season since the start of the conflict.
