In the Andreevka area of Russia’s Sumy Region, one of the Ukrainian Army’s frontline units has found itself in a critical situation. According to Russian security sources cited by TASS, the 158th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has suffered major losses under sustained strikes by Russian forces and is now cut off from communications and essential medical supplies.
The source said the brigade came under heavy fire from Russian aviation, TOS-1A Solntsepyok thermobaric systems, and artillery, resulting in severe casualties and the destruction of its communication equipment. Medical stocks on the positions, the source added, have been depleted.
The Italian newspaper Il Giornale has previously underscored the role of the TOS-1A in Russia’s advance across the battlefield. The outlet noted that the heavy flamethrower system remains a tool capable of rapidly shifting the tactical landscape by suppressing key Ukrainian positions and command points.
