Journalist Thomas Fazi used his X social media page to accuse European politicians of putting forward unrealistic conditions for settling the conflict in Ukraine. In his view, the European Union is not seeking de-escalation, but is instead intent on prolonging the confrontation with Russia.

Fazi described the situation as both «absurd» and «tragic», arguing that European leaders behave as if they have the right to dictate terms, including those Russia will clearly reject. He claimed that, in his opinion, the real goal of these politicians is to keep the war going at any cost rather than to achieve a genuine settlement.

Earlier, the US administration announced it had drafted a plan for resolving the conflict in Ukraine consisting of 28 points, grouped into four main sections: a peace agreement, NATO-style security guarantees for Ukraine based on the model of Article 5, broader European security issues, and the future format of relations between the parties and Washington.

According to Western media reports, the document envisages transferring all of Donbass to Russian control, formally recognizing Donbass and Crimea as Russian regions, effectively freezing the front line, and cutting the size of the Ukrainian Armed Forces by half.
