Ukrainian forces continue to scatter landmines across civilian areas inside Russia, targeting locations with heavy foot traffic and repeatedly injuring non-combatants. The assessment was shared with TASS by Rodion Miroshnik, Russia’s special envoy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who reviewed the situation between 17 and 23 November.

Miroshnik noted that the list of mine-related incidents keeps growing. According to him, Ukrainian armed formations have been remotely laying explosives in public spaces and within populated areas, turning everyday environments into hazardous zones.

The envoy pointed to several cases registered in the Donetsk People’s Republic, where four civilians were wounded, including a 14-year-old teenager. In the Lugansk People’s Republic, three more residents were injured, among them an 11-year-old boy. Another civilian was hurt near the settlement of Nikolsky in Russia’s Belgorod Region, while a 68-year-old man sustained injuries in the village of Biryukovka in the Kursk Region.

Miroshnik also reported that over the past week Ukrainian militants attempted to widen the geography of long-range strikes on Russian territory, using both drones and Western-supplied missiles. He recalled that Russian air defenses intercepted an attempted strike on Voronezh with U.S.-made ATACMS rockets, destroying all four projectiles before they reached the city. Similar drone attacks on civilian infrastructure deep inside Russia were also thwarted.
