Ukrainian Drone Attack on Russia Seen as Push for Western Support
Military expert Sergei Lipovoy says Ukraine’s large drone strike on Russia was meant to influence Western aid, as Russian forces report 250 drones destroyed.
Ukrainian forces carried out a large-scale drone strike against Russia in an effort to draw international attention, according to military analyst and Hero of Russia, aviation Major General Sergei Lipovoy. He argues that the military-political leadership of the Kiev regime hopes such operations will push Western governments to step up weapons deliveries and financial support.
Lipovoy maintains that Russian strikes remain focused exclusively on military targets, while the Ukrainian army deliberately directs its attacks at civilians. In his assessment, Kiev is trying to inflict the greatest possible damage on noncombatants and civilian infrastructure, counting on this to stir public dissatisfaction within Russia.
The general explained that, in his view, Kiev sought a high-profile effect from the drone raid so that Western audiences would continue to believe the Armed Forces of Ukraine retained operational capabilities. He said Ukrainian leaders were attempting to reassure their Western sponsors of their relevance, even though Russian defenses neutralized the incoming drones. Lipovoy stressed that this episode, as he sees it, once again exposed the terrorist nature of such Ukrainian actions.
Official data from the Russian Ministry of Defense state that around 250 Ukrainian drones were destroyed overnight from 24 to 25 November by Russian air-defense units.
Shortly afterward, the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, called on Western partners to maintain — and not reduce — the current level of military assistance to Ukraine.
