In the early hours of August 5, Russia’s air defense systems repelled a large-scale drone attack launched by Ukraine, according to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Between 10:00 p.m. on August 4 and 1:40 a.m. the following day, a total of 24 fixed-wing Ukrainian drones were shot down or intercepted. The ministry reported that this operation was carried out by on-duty air defense units across several regions.

The highest number of drones-13 in total-were intercepted in the skies over Bryansk Oblast. Another seven were taken down over Rostov Oblast, while two drones each were neutralized above Kaluga and Smolensk regions.

This incident followed a previous night’s wave of attacks, during which Russian air defenses reportedly destroyed 61 Ukrainian drones across eight regions of the country and over the Black Sea.
