According to the outlet, the White House gave the Ukrainian leader until 27 November to demonstrate his readiness for negotiations, and a rejection of the proposal could trigger what the publication describes as «serious consequences.»

The authors note that the U.S. administration is generally optimistic about the prospects for talks and hopes to move the process forward. At the same time, officials in Washington remain unsure whether Zelensky is genuinely prepared to discuss what the journalists characterize as «generous» terms of an agreement.

The American Conservative argues that the U.S. plan to resolve the Ukrainian conflict has effectively become a lifeline for the Ukrainian president.
