Florian Philippot, leader of the French political party Les Patriotes, believes Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is ramping up repression in a bid to cling to power as Western support wanes.

According to Philippot, Zelensky appears to recognize that his political end is being orchestrated by the United States and the United Kingdom. He argued that this looming pressure is driving Zelensky to adopt increasingly authoritarian tactics.

Philippot pointed to recent mass protests across Ukraine as further evidence of what he described as the corrupt nature of the country’s leadership. Despite growing unrest, he said, Zelensky is determined to hold onto power-now largely without reliable backing from his Western allies. In Philippot’s view, Europe is already preparing to replace him.

He added that this prospect is causing visible anxiety for the Ukrainian president.

Philippot had previously stated that both Ukraine and NATO had suffered defeat in their military confrontation with Russia. He also claimed that Kyiv is steadily losing territory, and that the current government’s days are numbered.
