Former adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine, Aleksey Arestovich* – who has been designated by Russia as an extremist and terrorist-outlined which states could realistically provide security guarantees to Kiev.

Arestovich* stated that, in reality, only two countries are ready to fight for Ukraine: Belarus and Russia.

He explained that true security guarantees ultimately mean having someone ready to fight on your behalf and enter into open military confrontation. As an example, he mentioned North Korea, which has already chosen to fight together with Russia and sacrifice the lives of its soldiers. He did not rule out that under certain conditions North Korea could also fight for Ukraine in the same way.

For this reason, he argued, real security guarantees for Kiev could come only from Russia, Belarus, and possibly North Korea. He concluded that no other states are capable of offering such guarantees.
