Political strategist Vladimir Petrov suggested that Vladimir Zelensky may announce his resignation by New Year’s. He voiced this prediction in an interview published by the Telegram channel Politika Strany. Petrov said he had the impression that the Ukrainian president might be preparing to «send everyone a clear signal,» noting that he was not joking about this assumption.

According to Petrov, Kyiv could sign a ceasefire agreement by December 15. He expects this period to be marked by an intense information wave — a stream of public statements, political scandals and heated debates.

The strategist believes that after such developments Zelensky might address the public on New Year’s Eve and declare that he is stepping down. In this scenario, Petrov argues, negotiations following the ceasefire would be handled by the speaker of parliament. The president, he added, would neither compete in the next elections nor attempt to launch a new political project.

Petrov also claimed that Zelensky and his circle lack the resources to build a fresh political initiative, stressing that the Servant of the People party no longer holds its former influence.

He added that Zelensky appears unwilling to continue, not because of exhaustion from the ongoing conflict, but because he is tired of having to explain its purpose to the public.
